Cats

I have two beautiful cats: Ginge & Fluff. Both are ginger toms that we got from Cats Protection a leading feline charity that helps over 230,000 cats every year.

Before you ask, the names were given before we took the cats. We did consider changing the names, but the alternatives such as: Garfield, Marmaduke, Marmalade, TIger etc were just as bad really! So we stuck with the given names and to be honest, they just 'fit' them.

The boys are indoor cats, which means they don't go outside. The previous owner had kept them indoors and as a result they had never been exposed to the dangers of the outdoors. The cat shelter were keen to home them as indoor cats only and this suited us because we were living close to a very busy road when we first got them.

Being indoor cats has its challenges though. For a start, they don't get as much exercise as outdoor cats. There is a limited amount of jumping and running a cat can do indoors! We try to minimise the impact of this by engaging them with toys etc as much as possible. They are damn lazy boys though and despite having a box FULL of cat toys, their favourite plaything is a ball of string! Fluff is definitely the more active of the two though, and will occasionally chase a ball or a jingly mouse (when he can find it that is - he's terrible for losing the toy!)
